What does the name Taryn mean?

There are many different meanings I have found for the name Taryn and I'm sure there are many more...If you know of a different meaning of our name please E-mail them me and I will post them as soon as I can.

There seems to be some conflict over the origin of Taryn. A variety of websites suggest that it a modern reshaping of "Tara", which means "high hill" in Gaelic. A reference to Baby Name Countdown, a book by Janet Schwegel which says that Taryn is Arabic and means to carry or throw. Babynet goes further with the "Tara" idea to suggest that the name is a combination of "Tara" and "Erin", which means "from Ireland." However, they spell it "Tarynn." Another popular theory, supported by Babycenter is that the name is of Greek origin and is the feminine form of Tyrone. Parentsoup combines these ideas, saying that the name is of Greek/Welsh origin and means "innocent one" or "thunder" (Quite a difference there!). Also In Hindu and Buddhist mythology "Taryn" was an astral goddess. Taryn is also the name of the Polynesian earth goddess. Also finding that some places they believe Taryn comes from a Celtic background and has the meaning of "strong woman warrior".
